What Is Meant by "It's Like Saving 12,000 Trees?”

We calculated the carbon footprint generated by transporting 5 pounds of discarded gel on a typical route to the landfill. We multiplied that by the number of gel packs we expect to sell at scale over the next several years.

That yearly CO2 mitigation created by avoiding sending this gel weight to landfills equals that of 12,000 live trees. Said differently, 12,000 adult trees remove the same amount of CO2 from the atmosphere that we will avoid generating from transporting gels to landfills.

How Do I Dispose of Vortec Ice™?

You can recycle the pouch and dispose of the gel by cutting a corner of the pouch and then pouring the gel down a drain — ideally with running water — or flushing it down a toilet. Rinse the plastic pouch and recycle it at a facility accepting #4 plastic films or bags.

Alternatively, you can dispose of whole gel packs by tossing them in a waste bin.
